Greetings, With AmeriCorps Week less than one month away, we encourage Mayor Cunningham to sign up for Mayors Day for National Service on Tuesday, March 12, 2024. On this day, we ask Mayors from across the country to highlight the positive impact of AmeriCorpsprograms in your respective cities and to thank the dedicated AmeriCorps members and AmeriCorpsSeniors volunteers whose contributions strengthen your local communities. Every March, we recognize and give thanks to the millions of AmeriCorps members andAmeriCorps Seniors volunteers who raise their hands to help when the need arises andare often the first on the ground and last to leave—making sure to leave their projectsbetter than they found them. This year's theme is: ‘AmeriCorps is not a moment, it’s a movement’. We encourageelected officials to join us in celebrating more than 30 years of AmeriCorps andAmeriCorps Seniors programs and offer thanks to members and volunteers for uniting inservice to make an impact on their community and foster a sense of constructive action,civic participation, and belonging. AmeriCorps invites elected officials – from Members of Congress to Governors andMayors to county officials – to participate in AmeriCorps Week. AmeriCorps Week 2024 Engagement Ideas for Elected Officials: Visit or serve: Join a local AmeriCorps or AmeriCorps Seniors program for a site visit to meet local members and volunteers or even serve alongside them by becoming an “honorary AmeriCorps member.” You can also host a recognition event to thank members and volunteers for their service. Issue a proclamation: Declare March 10-16 as AmeriCorps Week in your city, county, or state. Deliver a floor speech/statement for the record in Congress. Issue a press release or op-ed to highlight the impact of service in your local community. Amplify AmeriCorps Week on social media: Share videos, photos, and stories on social media about AmeriCorps and AmeriCorps Seniors programs, members, and volunteers in your community. National Service Reports - AmeriCorps in Your State NSR AmeriCorps recently released the 2024 National Service Reports, which detail thenational service investment made by AmeriCorps in all fifty states, Washington DC, andPuerto Rico. These state reports demonstrate the scope of AmeriCorps’ presencethroughout the nation with programs in nearly 40,000 locations spanning urban, rural, andtribal communities.
