Dear Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Commissioners-
First of all, thank you again for taking quick action regarding the City Manager and
Community Development Director situation. I really appreciate the timely response and hopethat next week's meeting will help bring about the best final resolution for the city and its
residents.
As I watch and participate in some of the recent meetings, it has become increasingly clear tome there is a strong desire and need for a town hall style meeting. Residents, myself included,
sometimes want to be able to ask questions of the commission and receive answers in realtime.
While that may not be the best format for this next Special Meeting, I think it would be very
beneficial if held very soon. I have made requests for a town hall meeting and heard otherrequests for one over the past few years. Many months ago, both Mayor Cunningham and
Commissioner Madgic expressed interest in and support for a town hall style meeting, but stillone hasn't materialized. I do think the scheduling of one falls to the commission rather than the
public as was suggested last year on nextdoor.com.
Some agenda topics could include:1. Review of the city's priorities for 2024.
2. Discussion of the city's methodology for preventing sprawl and why it continues to approveannexations.
3. Discussion of the city's methodology for growing sustainably or within its "means"regarding natural resources such as water.
4. Discussion/Review of the Bozeman Community Plan 2020 and if its current implementationis following the goals of the community.
5. Review the results of the UDC update survey and discussion of how to involve thecommunity going forward.
I'm sure there are many more topics that you would want to add and some of my suggestions
that you might want to remove. But my goal with this letter is to reawaken the idea of a townhall style meeting for fostering transparency and improving communication by allowing for
real time discussions. There is a lot of confusion in the community and desire for connection.
Thank you for the opportunity to share these ideas with you. And thank you for your hardwork.
