Spinelli - Concerned Citizen Response to the Linked Conversation between Mihelich and BentleyFrom:Felix Spinelli To:Agenda Subject:[EXTERNAL]Concerned Citizen Response to the Linked Conversation between Mihelich and Bentley Date:Friday, February 9, 2024 11:06:50 AM CAUTION: This email originated from outside of the organization. Do not click links or open attachments unless you recognize the sender and know the content is safe. I do not plan to attend the next city commission meeting on this subject, but I would like the commission to consider the following: (1) this conversation was thought to be private (NEVER SHARED WITH ANYONE) and didnot intentionally mean to demean anyone; (2) all of us, sometime in our personal and/or professional lives, have felt frustrated and inneed to vent with colleagues and friends for our mental health; (3) although the knee jerk reaction would be to replace these two individuals because of hurtfeelings, it would show a lot of compassion and understanding if the commission could forgive this transgression and put them on probationary status which would allow them tocontinue in their roles; (4) forgiveness requires that you consider this situation not as a breach of trust, but onlyshowing a moment of frustration on their part; (5) listening to the discussion, I feel that the focus of their conversation was on actions, whichreflect that they were concerned about how the commissioners act, and not so much on their characters - this shows that they were concerned about professionalism in our city affairs;(6) with all this in mind, if the commissioners feel that they can not "turn a cheek" on this matter and are resolved that they no longer have confidence in them (CAN NOT ACCEPTTHEM AS THE PROFESSIONALS THAT THEY ARE), I would probably understand that they must turn the page and replace them. I do not know Ann, but I feel that my encounterswith Jeff have been positive and I consider him to be a very capable, considerate person who is a professional at heart. We would be losing out on a top notch professional if you elect tofollow this option, but I would understand. So too, you must understand that taking such action would show the community that you are not compassionate and can not accept thateveryone makes mistakes at times (THEY ARE HUMAN). -- Felix (Phil) Spinelli
