Hello,
I am writing in response to the widely-viewed video between Jeff Mihelich and
Anna Bentley. Both Jeff and Anna should be fired immediately due to
unprofessional conduct.
In the private sector, if any employee would make known his/her plan to stay
“until vested,” he/she would be out the next day. Communities, as well as private
businesses, need employees who exude consistency and a methodical,
determined approach to encountering the area’s challenges and benefits. Jeff
clearly exhibited his short timer mindset, not to mention making a rookie mistake
in letting himself be recorded. At his salary he should be a leader and far beyond
that type of behavior. The community is wondering why he is on “paid leave,”
which I assume has to do with the city trying to avoid a legal battle, but what a
waste of money.
Anna should be fired for poor conduct due to her obvious willingness to tolerate
bad-mouthing our community with a colleague. At her level, she also should be
beyond that type of behavior.
Terry Cunningham should be investigated for his professionalism, if anything Jeff
and Anna were saying is true. Is he not taking notes? Is he not following up? Is he
phoning it in? Who’s holding him to account?
The search committee that spent thousands to find Jeff should be held to
account. 90% of them should not be involved in finding the next city manager as
they obviously didn’t do a competent job this time. Hiring is always hard but they
simply did a poor job.
Every employee at the city offices needs to realize they represent the city and
should be willing to be under scrutiny, starting with the commissioners who also
have some responsibility here. They should also realize what a privilege it is to
represent our beautiful hamlet.
This is ridiculous. Waste of money and time and embarrassing as a community.
