Dear City Commissioners,
I am sending you this email directly since it is time sensitive. I have also cc'dagenda@bozeman.net so my comments can be entered into the proper folder.
I have watched the leaked video, and have read many of the public comments that came in by
this past Friday, 2/2/24. I agree wholeheartedly with Daniel Carty's comments (2/1/24) thatMs. Bentley's presence at this week's Community Development Board would be "distracting,
to say the least, and nothing Ms. Bentley says from this point forward can be trusted by thepublic". After the appearance of the leaked video, it would be disrespectful to the City and the
public for her to appear in her usual role at the upcoming Community Development meeting.Ideally, she will recuse herself from the meeting and find an appropriate substitute.
Based on her egregious comments, tone, and actions seen in the leaked video, I think Ms.
Bentley should take it upon herself to resign, effective immediately. I was appalled at what Isaw on the video, and yet, I wasn't totally surprised. I have first hand experience with Ms.
Bentley's dismissive attitude in email exchanges and her condescending tone when shepresented at our neighborhood meeting.
The public has shared with you a resounding vote of no confidence in both Mr. Mihelich and
Ms. Bentley. Thank you for starting the appropriate steps toward addressing Mr.Mihelich's behavior and (hopefully) removing him from his position. I understand (according
to City Charter) that the City Commission cannot directly place Ms. Bentley on a similar administrative leave but that you are allowed to discuss your feelings freely about her removal
with the temporary Acting City Manager, Kira Peters (then Mr. Winn). I hope you will do thatas soon as possible and take any other actions you can through Ms. Peters to relieve Ms.
Bentley of her duties before the Community Development Board meeting Monday night2/5/24.
I'm sorry you have to deal with this embarrassing situation. And I am hopeful that both Ms.
Bentley and Mr. Mihelich can be replaced with kinder, more professional, individuals(preferably local) that actually respect the City staff, City Commissioners, and city residents.
Thank you for your hard work. Please take solace in the support you are receiving from the
public to see that these individuals are removed from their positions.
Thank you for the opportunity to comment,
