I just finished watching the Commission meeting video from January 23rd. I wanted to thank you all for your comments regarding the pipeline to CanyonFerry.
The presentation DID seem to focus very heavily on the pipeline as the best solution to ourwater needs, when the reality is, that you yourselves haven't even been presented with other
less drastic, less costly, and more localized solutions.
Commissioner Fischer mentioned that he would like to be the visionary regarded by futuregenerations as having incredible foresight. A pipeline is the antithesis of a visionary solution.
A pipeline would indeed be the titanic! Have we learned nothing from the Colorado river
being siphoned off to such an extent that the river no longer reaches the sea, and the dependentcommunities who've propped up their growth with this artificially available resource are now
facing dire consequences.
Our engineering department at MSU is an incredible resource, and I would love to see themtasked with investigating additional water storage in our area. This storage could even be
equipped as a pumped storage reservoir for renewable energy.(https://www.gordonbuttepumpedstorage.com/project-overview)
We have so many options to explore. And I thank you for recognizing that!
