1. THE FIRST FITTING INSIDE OF THE BUILDING SHALL BE A UL LISTED FLANGED
KENNEDY OR MUELLER OS&Y VALVE THE SAME SIZE AS THE FIRE SERVICE
LINE.
2. ALL DOUBLE CHECK VALVE ASSEMBLIES SHALL BE:
A. UL OR FM LISTED.
B. APPROVED BY THE UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA FOUNDATION
FOR CROSS CONNECTION CONTROL AND HYDRAULIC RESEARCH
(USCFCCCHR) FOR OPERATION IN THE PROPOSED POSITION (VERTICAL
OR HORIZONTAL) AS SHOWN ON APPROVED PLANS.
C. INSTALLED AS SHOWN ON THE APPROVED PLANS.
3. A FLOW DETECTION DEVICE SHALL BE INSTALLED IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING

MONTANA PUBLIC WORKS STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS, 6TH EDITION DATED APRIL 2010 (MPWSS);
THE CITY OF BOZEMAN MODIFICATIONS TO THE MPWSS; AND THE PROJECT SPECIFICATIONS.
2. A PRECONSTRUCTION CONFERENCE SHALL BE HELD PRIOR TO THE START OF CONSTRUCTION.
NO MATERIAL CHANGES MAY BE MADE TO THIS PLAN WITHOUT THE APPROVAL OF THE CITY OF
BOZEMAN WATER/SEWER SUPERINTENDENT.
3. ALL TEXT AND FEATURES SHOWN SHADED WERE EXISTING.
4. THE LOCATION, DEPTH, AND SIZE OF THE EXISTING UTILITIES SHOWN ON THESE PLANS IS
APPROXIMATE. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL VERIFY THE EXISTENCE, LOCATION, DEPTH, AND SIZE

DRAWING NO. 02660-3.
9. ALL FITTINGS REQUIRING THRUST BLOCKING, INCLUDING BENDS GREATER THAN ELEVEN AND
ONE-QUARTER DEGREES (11.25°), TEES, AND PLUGS, SHALL BE INSTALLED IN CONFORMANCE
WITH THE CITY OF BOZEMAN MODIFICATIONS TO THE MPWSS AND CITY OF BOZEMAN STANDARD
DRAWING NO. 02660-1.
10. IN LIEU OF CONCRETE THRUST BLOCKS, THRUST RESTRAINT MAY BE PROVIDED UTILIZING
MEGALUG; UNI-FLANGE; MJ FIELD LOK SERIES DI; FIELD LOK 350 GASKETS FOR PUSH-ON JOINTS,
MANUFACTURED BY US PIPE; SIGMA ONE LOK SERIES SLD, MANUFACTURED BY SIGMA
CORPORATION; OR APPROVED EQUAL FOR ALL FITTINGS THAT REQUIRE THRUST RESTRAINT,
EXCEPT FOR CUT-IN OR TAPPING TEES (FOR MAINS OR SERVICES) AND BENDS ON SERVICE LINES
INSIDE BUILDING FOUNDATIONS, UNLESS SPECIFICALLY PROHIBITED BY THE CITY OF BOZEMAN.
THE MECHANICAL RESTRAINTS SHALL BE INSTALLED IN ACCORDANCE WITH MANUFACTURER'S
SPECIFICATIONS AND AT ALL JOINTS AS SPECIFIED BY THE ENGINEER.
11. DETECTABLE WARNING TAPE SHALL BE INSTALLED, CENTERED OVER ALL WATER MAINS, SERVICE
LINES, AND HYDRANT LEADS. TAPE SHALL BE INSTALLED A MINIMUM OF EIGHTEEN INCHES (18")
AND MAXIMUM OF TWENTY-FOUR INCHES (24") BELOW FINISH GRADE.
12. THE SIX INCH (6") FIRE SERVICE LINE SHALL BE INSTALLED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CITY OF
BOZEMAN FIRE SERVICE LINE STANDARDS. THIS PLAN IS FOR CONSTRUCTION OF THE SIX INCH
(6") FIRE SERVICE LINE FROM THE EXISTING WATER MAIN TO THE OS&Y VALVE IN THE BUILDING.
13. THE FIRE SERVICE LINE SHALL BE INSTALLED, CHLORINATED, AND TESTED TO A MINIMUM OF 200
PSI BY A SINGLE CONTRACTOR. OWNER OR OWNER'S AUTHORIZED REPRESENTATIVE SHALL
PROVIDE CONSTRUCTION OBSERVATION AND PREPARE THE RECORD DRAWINGS. CONTRACTOR
SHALL FILL OUT AND SUBMIT "CONTRACTOR'S MATERIAL AND TEST CERTIFICATE FOR
UNDERGROUND PIPING".
14. CONTRACTOR SHALL ADJUST ALL VALVE BOXES, CURB BOXES, AND MANHOLES TO FINAL GRADE
UPON COMPLETION OF ALL CONSTRUCTION. ANY BOXES OR MANHOLES DAMAGED OR
OTHERWISE DISTURBED BY THE CONTRACTOR OR SUBCONTRACTOR SHALL BE REPAIRED AT THE
EXPENSE OF THE CONTRACTOR. THIS WORK WAS INCIDENTAL TO THE PROJECT.
15. IF CORROSIVE SOILS ARE FOUND ON SITE, CONTRACTOR TO USE V-BIO POLYETHYLENE
ENCASEMENT AROUND PIPE.
16. THE FIRE LINE CONNECTION TO THE CITY WATER MAIN WITHOUT THE USE OF A TAPPING TEE WILL
BE MADE BY THE CONTRACTOR INSTALLING THE APPROPRIATE SIZED TEE IN THE WATER MAIN.
THE WATER DEPARTMENT WILL OPERATE ALL VALVES FOR THE SHUTDOWN OF THE LINE TO
INSTALL THE TEE AND MUST BE PROVIDED WITH A MINIMUM OF 24 HOURS' NOTICE BEFORE THE
WORK BEGINS. TEMPORARY WATER SERVICE SHALL BE PROVIDED TO ALL AFFECTED WATER
CUSTOMERS IF THE SHUTDOWN PERIOD IS ANTICIPATED TO EXCEED FOUR HOURS. THE CITY OF
BOZEMAN RESERVES THE RIGHT TO DETERMINE THE LIKELY EXTENT OF THE MAIN SHUT DOWN
BASED ON THE PROPOSED WORK AND CONTRACTOR EXPERIENCE, AND REQUIRE THE

AND SUBJECT TO THE AVAILABILITY OF AN INSPECTOR AND APPROVED BY THE ENGINEER. THE CONTRACTOR WILL BE BILLED FOR SAID INSPECTION SERVICES

INSTALLED WHERE ANY CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITY CROSSES A SIDEWALK OR PEDESTRIAN PATH IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE SPECIFICATIONS AND ANY OR ALL

13. AREAS ON THE SITE TO BE GRADED SHALL BE CLEARED AND GRUBBED OF ALL VEGETATION AND DEBRIS. THESE MATERIALS SHALL BE REMOVED FROM THE SITE
