Dear Transportation Board, Commissioners, City Directors and Staff, Congratulations on Two years of work completed. Staff has taken massive amounts of time to educate you on transportation and the impressive programs that they have implemented. I amespecially impressed with the new safety plan, speed limit reductions, red light counters, and the start of the Prioritization of Projects. And the amount of funding that Staff has found andwon for a multitude of transportation projects has been truly amazing and historical - thank you Nick, Taylor, and Candace for all of the above. You started this two year stint announcing that you would be flying at a high altitude in orderto advise the Commission. I feel that more work needs to officially take place in that effort. Specifically, a request for funding needs to be made for the many many infill projects (standalone multimodal) and other projects Staff feels is lacking. Currently, there is only $100,000 allocated each year to cover millions of dollars of needed projects. It is sort of the black holethat the public thinks is covered but is not. I’m referring to all of the projects that do not qualify for Gas Tax funding (only between the curb projects), Arterial and Collector Districtstreet/path funding, or Parks and Trails Funding (which is only for the funding of maintenance of trails connected to park projects). I suggest that a formal request for some sort of fundingbe found and increased needs to be officially looked at and requested of the Commission. Additionally, finding ways that the public can come to you and have their concerns addressed in conversation would be refreshing. Finally, it would go a long way to assuring the public that they have been heard, to have publiccomment after staff presentations and before your discussions. That will give you an opportunity to endorse comments you like or appreciate and find consensus to help betterdirect the Commission and Staff. Again, thank you and good luck in the coming year.
