To the City Commission,
As you set your priorities for the next two years please consider these things:
Include Bozeman residents in the UDC planning:
The UDC discussion has left out the citizens of Gallatin County. Do not make decisions inhaste without including us in this discussion. We are your neighbors and friends in this
community. We want to see the code rewritten to align with the priorities of Bozeman
residents over those of developers. Give us a draft Unified Development Code (UDC)
that has wide public support.
Preserve the Neighborhood Conservation Overlay District:
We have lived in our home for 37 years. We made changes to our home in
accordance with the Historic Preservation Board to maintain the historic character of
our house. We do not want to see the city abandon these guidelines! We want the city
to strengthen and enforce historic preservation regulations not abandon them. We
want to preserve existing housing and neighborhood character. The Neighborhood
Conservation Overlay District is already in place; let’s reinvigorate its protections
rather than starting from scratch. Give the Historic Preservation Advisory Board its
judiciary powers back as the review board for projects within historic districts.
Thank you for the time you put into this work that is so important to maintaining the
quality of our community.
