Please consider the following among your priorities for the next 2 years:
Historic preservation as a way to maintain a sense of place but also affordable housing and
a sustainable city! Seeing the memorandum attached to Tuesday Jan 23rd's agenda describingan outlook of 500K people in this valley, and the urban growth boundary projected for thatgrowth I think it is paramount to preserve the character of the central neighborhoods coveredby the NCOD. Large cities all over the country protect historic neighborhoods. We need todo the same. Give HPAB its judiciary powers back!
Municipally owned affordable housing. The only housing we need is housing for people
who live and work here! Municipal housing takes time to implement and time to mature. Start now! Investigate ways to implement the Montgomery County Model of municipally
owned mixed income affordable housing. Index our AMI by local statistics of what a nursemakes, what a policeman makes, what a teacher makes, what the city sanitation worker
makes. And use that to determine what is actually affordable.
Resource Conservation. Mature trees need to be protected! As climate fluctuates it will be
more difficult for young trees to establish themselves because they don't have theresilience that comes with maturity. The heat island effect is real, and we need to protect oururban forest to combat it. Get rid of Cash-In-Lieu of water by 2025, not 10 years from now. Implementing 1 to 1 Mandatory Efficiency offsets is necessary now!
These measures will help keep Bozeman liveable for current residents while welcoming newworkers.
