Hello,
I am writing to express our support for efforts to increase safe and efficient
bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure in Bozeman. Making Bozeman a great
place to get out of your car should be a priority. Specifically, removing the
Frontage Road Pathway proposal and the Haggerty Sidewalk from next
year's CIP budget seems like a bad idea. Both projects are instrumental in
the ongoing effort to make our community a friendly place for alternative
transportation. The Triangle Community Plan is ambitious and requires the
cooperation of many entities, including the railroad. Removing Bozeman's
part from the budget gives the wrong signal and will jeopardize efforts to win
grants for the project at large. Also, the new extension of the Highland Glen
trails which connects to Ellis Ln. has increased the amount of pedestrian
and bicycle traffic on Haggerty Lane. A safe place to handle that extra
traffic is needed. Not only are these efforts important for our business, but
they are also boons for our community's health, safety, and livability.
Thank you,
Rob Funderburk
