Members of the Economic Vitality Board and City Commissioners –
I just had occasion to read the City’s new “Belonging in Bozeman Plan” and I was struck by several
things:
First, good for the City to push and support this effort and assign so many staff to the process. I
believe our community will be much better for it and know the more staff exposed to the history,
findings and goals of this work will go a long way to educate and enlighten many sectors of our
community.
Secondly, while there has been public rancor as of late about the City not garnering as much public
input into its work, compiling the Belonging in Bozeman Plan seems to have made great strides to
ensure representation and inclusion from many segments of our community. Thanks to all who
participated and for strides made to ensure the product had many voices at the table.
Lastly, with the often-deafening finger-pointing and political inability to hear each other today, I
commend the City for making this work a priority. To truly live up to Bozeman’s vision statement of
The Most Livable Place, regular questions must be asked of whether we all, as a community, are
doing enough to embrace this concept. The answer is that there always will be work to do and I am
heartened that the City is taking the leadership role in making us all better. Nice work!
Thanks, B
