Dear Commissioner’s,
I am writing to you today to urge you to vote AGAINST the creation of a Municipal Housing Authority. Not only is
it unwise and unnecessary, but with only 49 signatures on a petition, it obviously does not represent the vast
majority of Bozeman residents, myself included.
In fact, the amount of available housing inventory is already well above the national average of a 5% vacancy rate.
Prices have not only stabilized here but have come down and it seems there is more development on the horizon that
will provide for thousands of new housing options. An MHA is unwarranted.
Please follow suit as the Gallatin County Commissioners have done and reject this unwise and unnecessary
“authority.” I agree with them that it’s an inappropriate solution to affordable housing for Gallatin County! It has
always ended badly wherever it has been tried. Let’s keep Bozeman a place where people want to flee to, not away
from.
