I am extremely disappointed in Gallatin County Commissions denial of a public housing authority, and hope the city
of Bozeman does not follow suit. I support establishing a public housing authority because Bozeman needs and
deserves transparency and public oversight to ensure new developments remain safe, sanitary, and permanently
affordable. The Montana Code states that when there is a lack of safe and sanitary housing, it is in the public
interest for the city to address the issue by establishing a public housing authority. It is abundantly clear that is the
case in our city, despite the out-of-touch, ignorant, and incorrect opinions of our county commissioners. As a renter,
I have endured backed up pipes, flooding, broken heating in the dead of winter, and prolonged reactions by
landlords /rental companies. This is common place in Bozeman. I hope the city recognizes the need for a public
housing authority, and the sustaining solutions to the housing crisis one could provide.
