Dear Bozeman City Commissioners,
I am writing to recommend Emma Bode for the open position of City Commissioner.I had the
pleasure of working alongside Emma during her tenure as the Bozeman Field Manager at
Forward Montana and Forward Montana Foundation, where she demonstrated exceptional
leadership and a commitment to fostering positive change within Bozeman.
As the Bozeman Field Manager,Emma oversaw the operations of our Bozeman programs and
managed our internship program. Her professionalism, honesty, and integrity were evident in
every aspect of her work.Emma consistently exhibited a rare combination of strategic thinking,
thoughtful leadership, and a genuine dedication to making life in our community better for
everyone.
One of Emma's standout qualities is her ability to work across lines of difference. She has a
proven track record of bringing people together to find creative and effective solutions.Emma
actively seeks input, listens to understand, and possesses the humility to acknowledge areas
where she may not have all the answers.
During her time as Bozeman Field Manager,Emma spearheaded extensive initiatives related to
voter mobilization,voter registration,issue advocacy,and leadership development.The
foundation of these programs was rooted in elevating voices that are often not represented,
particularly focusing on the lived experiences of young people in Bozeman.Emma's dedication
to amplifying underrepresented voices in governmental spaces reflects her deep understanding
of the breadth of experiences and realities faced by our community members.
Emma is not only a visionary leader but also a pragmatic problem solver. Her ability to work
collaboratively across different perspectives to develop creative and strategic policy solutions
makes her uniquely poised to contribute meaningfully to the role of City Commissioner.I have
full confidence that Emma will bring the same level of dedication, passion, and innovation to the
City Commissioner position as she has to her many professional and personal roles in the
organizing,sustainability,and civic engagement space.
Please feel free to contact me if you require any additional information or have any questions.
Thank you for considering Emma to serve as a Bozeman City Commissioner.
Sincerely,
Amara Reese-Hansell
