Dear Commissioners,
I am writing regarding the upcoming appointment of a commissioner to replace I-Ho
Pomeroy. I urge you all to consider the recent concerns of the Bozeman community regardingupzoning and to appoint someone who will listen to everyone in the community and is open to
ideas. What we need right now is to re-establish trust between the city and the community. And then we need real solutions for affordable and middle housing. We need a Public Housing
Authority to accomplish this, we need to incentivize and create housing for working residentsnot millionaires.
Mark Egge has demonstrated a blind belief in the libertarian magic of trickle-down economicsand refuses to acknowledge the reality facing Bozeman. Namely, that it does not pencil out to
build affordable housing in downtown Bozeman without direct philanthropy and orgovernment funds. This is not my opinion, this is a fact corroborated by a Community
Development Board member and architect who is currently involved in an affordable housingproject. Developers, even the rare altruistic ones, will not build affordable housing because
they cannot afford to. Period. Egge's inability to see beyond his own agenda disqualifies himfrom a seat on the commission.
Jason Delmue is an infill developer who stands to make direct financial gains from upzoning. This conflict of interest makes it impossible for him to objectively decide what is best for our
town. He should also recuse himself from any CDB meetings regarding zoning at all.
Please consider a candidate that will work with the community,
Thank you for your time and your work,Juliet Osman
