Dear Mayor Andrus and Commissioners, Choosing a replacement for Commissioner Pomeroy is a serious civic responsibility! One I hope you will make based on what is best for the residents of Bozeman. I was troubled to seeMark Egge's letter of interest and qualification among the list of applicants for Commissioner Pomeroy's vacant seat. As a member of the Governor's housing task force, this man represents the State Governmentwho time and again has voted to take away the tools we need at the local level to manage our own growth. When a state governing body takes away our ability to create affordable housing as HB 259does, the state is preventing us from drafting policies to meet our needs. As an author for the libertarian Frontier Institute Mark Egge is affiliated with an organization that endorsed SB 382, SB 323, and others that have dictated to us how to plan our ownmunicipalities, and manage our natural environment. The recent backlash against the proposed UDC draft should inform you that this person is out of touch with the way Bozeman residents wish to see their city develop. This man doesn't represent Bozeman! He has previously run for commissioner, and NOTbeen elected. Bozeman has already said NO to Mark Egge. Please do the same. Do not put the fox in the henhouse. Without citizen oversight and action (which there will be!), it would most certainly lead to the demise of our fine city.
