To Bozeman’s City Commission I’m writing in support of the Bozeman City Commission appointing Mark Egge to fill the City Commissioner vacancy recently held by I-Ho Pomeroy. I am aware that Bozeman’s City Commission is, and will soon be, rolling out plans andpolicies that may markedly effect the coming generation of life in Bozeman. (Eg, MPO & Transportation, UDC & Affordable Housing issues, Water plans, general conservation, … andso many more important issues.) In that context, especially, I believe Mark Egge is well positioned to positively and decisively contribute to information gathering/sharing, design, facilitation, and implementation of such plans and policies. Indeed, Mark is exceptionally practiced at recommending decisions using up-to-dateevidence-based knowledge and community input. Mark demonstrates unwavering advocacy for enabling and protecting a thrivingBozeman community. I have been encouraged to see Mark change his mind due to compelling evidence orimpassioned community comments. I have appreciated Mark’s instincts, which are wholly anchored in kindness, for when tostep aside and when to lean in to leadership. Here are some of my roles in Bozeman’s community: I have lived in Bozeman for about 10 years. My wife and I own a house in the Bogert neighborhood. We live with several others in a communal-style. I deeply cherish the quality of community in Bozeman. I value communities that embrace a diversity of values and a multitude of modelsfor thriving. I am a professor of mathematics at MSU.I am engaged in departmental and university policy, and policy concerning the MSU’s graduate program. I am on the 6-person Bridger Ridge Run Committee. I generally take on leadership roles in the running community. Thank you for seriously considering Mark’s application. David Ayala219 E Story St Bozeman, MT 59715
