Commissioners,
I humbly submit my support for Mark Egge to fill the vacant spot on the city commission.
In 2008, I served a volunteer term of service as crew leader in the Montana Conservation
Corps, an AmeriCorps program. I had the pleasure of having Mark Egge as one of my crewmembers. We worked hard all summer doing trail work, community service projects and
learning about stewardship. It was my job to facilitate group discussions on subjects aboutcommunity building and citizen involvement. It was clear to all of us in the group that Mark
Egge already possessed a strong desire for and understanding of these concepts. Hestrengthened our crew in countless ways and I believe he would do the same for the City
Commission of Bozeman.
Many years later, while hosting a peer education group at my house, Mark was a guest speakerand illuminated us on the different ways we as a group could get involved in our community.
He personally inspired me to apply to an opening on the city's community advisory board forzoning. I was nervous, having no experience in the subject, but Mark made the time to teach
me the basics and provided me with the moral support I needed to move ahead with it. It hadbeen over 10-years since we served together in MCC and Mark was still a catalyst for taking
positive action. I'm thankful for his influence in my life.
Mark's involvement in city government thus far has been very productive and beneficial to ourcommunity and I believe the skillset he offers, including a high aptitude for the technical
details of policy making, will bolster an already talented and dedicated group ofcommissioners.
