Good morning,
I am writing in support of Mark Egge's appointment to the Bozeman City Commission.
When Mark told me that he is applying for this position, I was encouraged. In my career I've
had the good fortune to work with hundreds of planners, including some very experiencedand distinguished professionals. In the years that I've known Mark, I've found him to be one of
the smartest, most knowledgeable planners I've had the pleasure of interacting with. Mark'sfirst expertise is in transportation planning, but his prowess extends to land use, housing,
infrastructure, and community design - and especially the interaction of all of these elements.For the past few decades my land use planning work has mostly occurred outside of Bozeman.
But I want to stay up to speed on Bozeman planning issues, so I rely on Mark's knowledge andinsight to keep me informed.
In addition to his planning expertise, I am very impressed with Mark's ability to work with
others, especially on local government committees. Mark is an active listener, he takescomments from others seriously and with respect, and he facilitates thoughtful and
constructive dialogue.
As someone who cares deeply about Bozeman and its future - and who highly values theselfless commitment of community leaders like Mark - I urge you to appoint him to the City
Commission.
