Thank you, Ben Crosby 404 W Olive St, Bozeman, MT 59715 Subject: Commission Appointment Support for Mark Egge Ben Crosby 404 W Olive St Bozeman, MT 59715 November 21st, 2023 Bozeman City Commission 121 N Rouse Ave Bozeman, MT 59715 Dear Commission, I’m writing in support of appointing Mark Egge to the City Commission on November 28th. More than anyone I know in town, Mark brings a unique blend of mastery of policy and research, a dedication to “sweating the details” and connecting that to big picture goals, and a commitment to promoting dialogue and driving towards consensus. Beyond that, he is a fair and decent person who I trust to help shape decisions on behalf of me and my neighbors. I supported his previous run for City Commission and would be excited to see him in the seat. Mark knows a lot and makes the work accessible to the community; he’s been giving informal “housing code” walking tours to all comers for the last couple years where he highlights examples of different housing types and code impacts around town. He has done the sometimes inglorious and under-the-radar work driving local policy – the Parking Commission, Planning Board, and a few others I can’t remember. Whenever I ask him about the latest local policy question (eg. housing codes, bike lanes, urban camping, etc), he shares a reasoned point of view that is grounded in evidence and free of the usual hyperbole we see in the paper or online forums. In general, I think Mark has the same hopes for Bozeman as me and my neighbors – that we take real steps towards housing affordability, that we can get around town safely, and that we support sensible growth while preserving the wild spaces that make it such a great place to live. Thank you for your consideration, Ben Crosby 404 W Olive
