We are trying to strike a balance of not being too prescriptive so neighborhoods can decide which solutions fit their needs best. In some cases, it might be copying directly from our document, but as each HOA is so different (and because there are so many creative ways folks could go about aligning their neighborhoods with some of these goals) we realized it would not be realistic to create a perfect covenant for each goal. We are always trying to make our work the best it can be and we really appreciate all of your feedback. I am happy to forward your comments below to the Commission as public comment. Would POAs be encouraged to insert this language directly into their own covenants (my initial understanding) or create language around the high-level goal? As a practitioner, I could see this causing confusion if your example language is added haphazardly (which would be the POAs fault, not yours); especially if it is precatory language. Alternatively, I would be least concerned seeing that exact language if it is inserted into, say, a design committee section of covenants or, better yet, regulations. Give the design committee specific factors to consider such as energy efficiency, when approving/rejecting design elements. My last two cents. Thanks for pursuing this project in the first place!
