I moved to Bozeman in October of 1982. I have been a library patron since 1983. I love theBozeman Public Library. I am a financial supporter of the Bozeman Library Foundation andrecently attended the Library Gala.
I am not in favor of the Bozeman Public Library parking lot development proposal as outlined
in the Bozeman Daily Chronicle article today (November 15, 2023). In fact, I strongly urge theBozeman Library trustees to not even contemplate giving away the right to build & expand the
Library in the future as Bozeman continues to grow, which is projected into the future.
Library parking appears to already be a problem currently. It might be tempting to considerthis proposal because of the additional parking but in Bozeman we know how that goes. The
Bozeman City Code currently does not require enough parking for all the new developments. Therefore, parking has become a major issue for those of us that live in Bozeman!
In addition, I am a Bozeman taxpayer and was a Bozeman taxpayer when we voted to buy the
14 acres where the current library is located. I did so with the understanding that it wouldremain public space.
