The URM-10D (D = double) provides twice the ballast frame area for blocks than the URM-10 does. As outlined in FSB 1059H and in table 1, HNS policy for the antenna size and application of the URM-10 and URM-10D has been revised (and differs from FSB 1119). Table 1. For 0.75M, 1.OM or 1.2M antennas, a smaller size mount would probably be acceptable and would be more economical. On this mount, requires 2.88" O.D. mast or mast adapter. NOTE 2. HNS policy allows installation of URM-10 with 1.8M antenna on peaked roofs only. For roof pitches up to and including 3-in-12, the ballast calculations of DIU Configuration Editor v4.0 are applicable. For roof pitches over 3-in-12 up to 6-in-12, contact installation coordinator Richard Guglietti (PH 619-452-4637). The URM-10 is not applicable for roof pitches over 6-in-12. NOTE 3. The URM-10D, which provides more ballast area, is preferred over the URM-10 for use with the 2AM antenna. However, the URM-10 may be used on flat or peaked roofs with the 2AM antenna if approval is granted by your HNS district manager and the design wind speed for the site is less than 80 MPH. NOTE 4. Use of 1.81VI antenna on URM-10D may be authorized by HNS in special situations requiring a high amount of ballast. Requires ordering a special mast or mast adapter. NOTE 5. Installation of 2AM antenna with a non-penetration mount can only be authorized after a site study and approval of building loads by a structural engineer. The URM-10D is applicable to both flat and peaked roofs. 4 FSB 1119A HNS has in the past months deployed the following Baird non-penetrating mounts for use in specialized applications: Temporary HNS P/N HNS P/N Description Reference 9200339-0001 T-1.8M-Ridge-PL2 Baird 1.8M Ridge Mount Figure 2 (only 5° max slope) 9200339-0002 T-2.4M-Ridge-PL2 Baird 2AM Ridge Mount Figure 2 (only 50 max slope) -- T-1.8M-Flat-PS10 Baird 1.8M Flat PS10 Mount Figure 3 and FSB 1111 9200339-0004 T-2.4M-Flat-PS10 Baird 2AM Flat PS10 Mount Figure 3 and FSB 1111 Quantities of each of the above (PL-2 and PS-10) that remain in installer inventory and are to be used when called out by an HNS work order. HNS is making a transition from the above mounts (PL-2 and PS-10) to the Baird Universal Ridge Mounts as listed in Table 2 and shown in Figure 1. The Universal Ridge Mount consists of a frame which can accommodate bolt-on masts of various sizes. The primary HNS application of the Universal Ridge Mount URM-10 is: 1.8M for Peaked Roofs only-4.0" O.D. mast The primary HNS application of the Universal Ridge Mount URM-10D is: 2AM for Peaked Roofs or Flat Roofs - 6.62" O.D. mast Under special circumstances, HNS may authorize the use of the Universal Ridge Mount with 2.88" O.D. mast. Unless special circumstances apply and special authorization has been granted, installers are to use the Ridge Mast Mount, HNS P/N 3000351-0001 (Figure 4) for peaked roof sites requiring a 2.88" O.D. mast. An installation subcontractor is required to use all PL-2 and PS-10 mounts in inventory before HNS will provide Universal Ridge Mounts to that subcontractor. Consumption of existing field inventory is essential. The Universal Ridge Mounts can accommodate a wider range of roof slopes than the PL-2. 5 FSB 1119A PES3-1163 Figure 4. Other NPMM types are recommended for 1.8M for flat roofs. At the present time, install the Universal Ridge Mount NPMM with 1.8M antenna on a peaked roof with a slope of 140 or less (pitch of 3 in 12) as measured with an inclinometer, using the ballast calculations of the current DIU Configuration Editor version 4.01 or higher. If the peaked roof slope is over 140, contact HNS installation coordinator Richard Guglietti (PH 619-452-4637) before proceeding. NOTE 2: The URM-10D, which provides more ballast area, is preferred over the URM-10 for use with the 2AM antenna. However, the URM-10 may be used on flat or peaked roofs with the 2AM antenna if approval is granted by your HNS district manager and the design wind, speed for the site is less than 80 mph. Installation of 2AM antenna with a non- pengtration mount can only be authorized after a site study and approval of building loads by a structural engineer. NOTE 3: Unless special circumstances apply, HNS policy requires that the Ridge Mast Mount (HNS P/N 3000351-0001) shown in Figure 4 be used for 2.88" O.D. mast applications on ridge roofs rather than the Universal Ridge Mount (URM-10). Special circumstances might be that Ridge Mast Mount does not provide sufficient ballast for the desired site, has too high a roof loading per unit area, or that the Ridge Mast Mount is unavailable. NOTE 4: The installation of the Universal Ridge Mount URM-10D with 2.44M antenna can only be authorized after a site study and approval of the building loads by a structural engineer. URM-10D - Major Parts Identification (See Table 7 for Item Numbers) 13 FSB 1119A OBTAIN REQUIRED STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS -2AM Prior to the installation of the Universal Ridge Mount non-penetrating mast mount, it is necessary to verify that the building structure and local zoning codes will allow for this type of equipment. The installation of the Universal Ridge Mount URM-10D or URM-10 NPMM with 2AM antenna can only be authorized after a site study and approval of the building loads by a structural engineer. Figures 5 and 6 give the footprint dimensions of the Universal Ridge Mounts. The analysis must also include the weight of the required ballast and the effects of the wind loading in addition to the weights shown in table 9. Use the amount of ballast specified by structural engineer's analysis for the 2AM antenna. For 1.8M or smaller antennas on peaked roof slopes of 140 or less (pitch of 3 in 12), use the ballast calculations of the current DIU Configuration Editor version 4.01 or higher. If the peaked roof slope is over 14°, contact HNS installation coordinator, Richard Guglietti (PH 619-452-4637) before proceeding. Table 9. The Universal Ridge Mount should not be installed with 2.88" O.D. mast unless special considerations apply and special authorization has been granted. Refer to the PES General Reference Manual for weight of appropriate antenna (0.75M, 1.OM, or 1.2M). NOTE 2. Roofers designate roof slope or pitch as a vertical rise measurement against a standard horizontal distance of 12 inches. For example, 6/12 (or sometimes spoken as "6 in 12") means that a roof rises 6 inches over a horizontal distance of 12 inches. A "12 in 12" roof would be a roof with a 45-degree angle. Figure 7 gives examples of roof pitches and angles. NOTE 3. For 1.8M antennas on roof slopes over 140 but less than 26.6°, contact HNS installation coordinator, Richard Guglietti (PH 619-452-4637) before proceeding. 14 FSB 1119A 4.70 1in12 0(9.50 2in12 14.0° 3 in 12 18.40 4 in 12 22.60 5in12 63.40 26.60 6 in 12 S5-02-PES3-1538 Figure 7. Corresponding Roof Pitches and Angles 15 FSB 1119A PREPARE ROOF SURFACE If the Universal Ridge Mount is to be installed on a roof surface, make measurements to locate the place on the roof specified by the structural engineer. The engineering approval of the mount installation can be based on the strength of a given location on the building (for example, directly over a column). If the roof has a corrugated surface, use pressure treated lumber between the roof and the mount according to FSB 1074A. Sweep away loose rocks present on the roof structure before placing the NPMM pad on the roof in order to prevent puncturing the roof membrane causing roof damage and/or weather leaks. The only exceptions to this practice are: a. Rocks are an integral part of the roof structure and are imbedded into the roof. b. Customer specifies that the rocks are not to be swept away from the area of NPMM placement. This should be documented on the Customer Acceptance Report. c. Installation personnel determine that rocks must be present due to incompatibility of pad material with roof membrane material. You may need to enlist the expertise of a certified roofer to determine this. PEAKED ROOF RIDGE SUPPLEMENTAL SUPPORT If the ridge of the peaked roof is flat and broad (figure 8), you may need to place a properly sized pressure treated board along the ridge of the roof underneath the URM-10 or URM-10D to assure proper loading. 0 0 wrwrr PRESSURE TREATED LUMBER PES3.1615 Figure 8. Three things need to be addressed or clarified. #1 the property owner's signature of approval for the application was cut off. We need, that signature in order to process the application. We can keep your e-mailed one if Mr Tschache can come in and sign the printed copy. 8/22/2003 0 $1 42 What size dish is proposed-to be,placed? The provided product material appears to be applicable to a wide size range of dishes. The field service bulletin appears to indicate a 2.4 meter dish. This seems to be quite large. Can a smaller dish be used? This property is located next to residential property and is part of a planned unit development that has higher design quality standards than is typical. An 8 foot roof mounted dish is likely to cause some heartburn. Also the product material from Prodelin indicates a receive only dish. Is this correct? #3 A clarification, it appears from the description that the antenna is to be located on the NE portion of the roof where some screening will occur from the existing aspen trees.
