In reference to the article in The Bozeman Chronicle about the library considering authorizing 350,000 square feet of development, I have to submit my strong concerns. First, the value of this land should only increase, so there is no real need to sell out now. Secondly, public space is of high value right now and an out-of-state developer would not have the same fervor to protect these spaces and retain character like the Library Board could. Thirdly, this space is used by so many people who voted for the bond to build out the library complex and I think it is terrible to think these same people could lose portions of this land totheir use. (Should we all get our money back if you sell out—something to consider). Finally, we have amazing resources here in Bozeman. But we are losing them quickly because we have turned our lands into the new extractive industry. Out-of-state interests areflooding our market to maximize return, and they will turn their sights somewhere else. Let’s finally say no and stand up for those who live here and cherish institutions like the BozemanLibrary. Or, if we give up the land next to it, maybe we consider turning the library itself into a high-end hotel in order to maximize profits. Please say no to this proposal. Thank you. Rich Hohne408 S.
