Dear Board of Trustees, I want to ask all of you that you consider the future of Bozeman at the meeting tomorrow regarding the placement of this luxury hotel right next door. It seems that the possibility of expansion of our library and the beautiful grounds surrounding it are not a priority. The only consideration seems to be expansion of a demographic that is overrunning our mountain town blocking our views and clogging our now very icy streets. How can that be a good thing for this town??? We are under siege from out of state developers who have no concern or relationship with the people who live here in Bozeman, Montana. Roof top gardens? Give me a break! Where is the water coming from to keep that green? New York has plenty of rain. Montana is in a drought. Who will have access? I understand it's a “pass only." Why would anyone approve a building that will only serve those who want to come and gawk and ski for two weeks and who are not invested in our town in any way? We have enough of those already. Keeping our library from the ability to expand does not sound like a great idea. What we really need is housing for those who work here! Businesses are closing because there’s nobody to work. Nobody can afford the rent or to buy a house. Pretty soon the upper class will not be able to go out to dinner or purchase groceries locally. Who will clean their houses and do their gardening? We will be a lovely town of breweries and art galleries. Whoa down! We are building ourselves right out of what has made this town so special in the first place. The people who live here and the people who can no longer afford to do that! How can that be a good thing for Bozeman? I am asking you to consider these things when you vote at the meeting tomorrow. There will be a lot of us watching you tomorrow. Thanks for the good things you have done for us. This is not one of them. Sincerely, Collette Brooks-Hops 406 581 3807
