Dear Susan Gregory, My wife, daughter and I write to you as a neighbor (141 Village Crossing Road), as Libraryusers and as supporters. We are vehemently opposed to the plan to convert the library parkinglot into a “Parking Structure…" to "serve the Hotel Property as well as the Library Property.”We understand that the development would also usurp the land now known as the sculpturegarden. Our reasons:
We believe such structure would provide little access for library users. We believe such development would reduce our valued open space. We believe such development would transform what today is a facility for ALLmembers of the Bozeman community into a structure that would only benefit thewealthy and the transient.
We believe the historic buildings that would be demolished would be replaced in favorof a complex of little architectural attraction. We believe that the entire complex would harm the historic downtown of Bozeman. We believe the volume of users of this section of town would make the library and itsneighboring businesses virtually inaccessible. Please let us know how we can help preserve our welcoming library which we consider one ofBozeman’s greatest assets. Yours sincerely, John H Heminway 1-917-842-9799john@heminway.netwww.heminway.net
