Hello-
I am very concerned about the proposed hotel/condo/parking structure going in near thelibrary, for so many reasons. First, this zone near the library feels like the beginning heart
and soul of Bozeman. The trails, the sculptures, the open space to gather and meet forcommunity events like Sweet Pea all start here. I can not believe the city would even
consider building over this. Bozeman isn’t like Aspen or Vail or Tahoe. Bozeman started asa ag community. It’s a university town. People have lived here and worked here for
decades along side the tourist industry, NOT because of the tourist industry. Bozeman doesnot exist because of the tourists and second home owners like in other mountain town. It
was never meant to be a ski resort community. Out of state developers need to STOP tryingmake Bozeman something that it is not. They need to stop trying to make it impossible for
the real people of the community to live here.
Additionally, isn’t the average age of Bozeman 28? How does adding yet another luxury’scondo complex aid on the housing issues Bozeman has? What 20-something in Bozeman is
buying and living in these developments? How are these structures helping the city at all?!I’ve read the proposals and it seems to me the city have nothing to gain from this
development and everything to lose, see my previous and following arguments.
Lastly, people come to Bozeman and live in Bozeman for its character and charm of it’sdowntown. Please don’t ruin this too by adding another giant structure in the heart of what
makes Bozeman so special. The Library, Pete’s Hill, Lindley, Bogert. These are familysanctuaries and this development has the potential to completely change the character of
these wonderful places that make Bozeman, Bozeman.
