Makhluf - NO to Library lease request by Left Lane DevelopmentFrom:Adam Makhluf To:Terry Cunningham; Agenda; Jennifer Madgic; joey@morrisonforbozeman.com Subject:[EXTERNAL]NO to Library lease request by Left Lane Development Date:Tuesday, November 14, 2023 10:19:27 PM CAUTION: This email originated from outside of the organization. Dear Deputy Mayor Cunningham, Library Board, and Ms Madgic, I am very concerned about the lease request from Left Lane Development Company to take over public land for their hotel development at the Public Library. I see no benefit to thecommunity to provide them with such a sweetheart deal of $1 per year to lease the land for up to 150 years. They are basically requesting free land from the city of Bozeman, and frankly itis insulting to us all. If they want to build a hotel, they should provide their own funding for the land and not ask the taxpayers to subsidize their private enterprise. At a bare minimumthey should pay market value for the land, though I think it should not be sold in the first place. Beyond the monetary aspect, the Public Library is a beloved public institution and we need tohave the flexibility to expand for generations to come in our rapidly growing city. Their request hamstrings us to expand our library and is not in our interest. Please say no to this insulting request by Left Lane Development Company. Sincerely, Adam Makhluf
