In exchange for an underground parking garage where the public will be required to pay to park, the library and community lose; 1. Parking spaces which are free to the public . The public will have to pay to use the underground facilities. And, after construction the residents of the hotel/condo complex will be able to use the public spaces for free, hotel guests and condo guests included 2. A large portion of the sculpture park which is of benefit to the artists of Bozeman and to the public, and which is considered a part of the Library Trail connecting all of the Peet's Hill Trails with downtown 3. 75 mature trees which contribute to the canopy and support wildlife, cool the area. 4. Use of the green space which will be removed in the parking lot construction. (Instead WITH A LIBRARY EMPLOYEE a library user could access a private garden area on top of the parking garage. I can only assume that there will be very very few library employees with a job description including this duty, and that somehow this restriction is meant to keep transients and unhomed people out of the garden.) 5. The ability to expand the library higher than the hotel/condo complex. I can only assume that this would protect the hotel/condo complex residents' view of the mountains. 6. The right to change any of these losses for 75 years minimum for the exchange of $1 7. Main Street access to the library parking area for 2 years during the construction (this means that access would be from Wallace, which is totally full of parked cars from 8 to 6 pm. All those commuters will have to find other parking spots if traffic increases or if construction equipment is allowed to be positioned along Wallace. That moves the library access to the S Church St/Curtiss connection. This whole neighborhood, including the Bogert Park Area and the Pool area will be disrupted for 2 years. Again, there will be unsafe access to the park and pool for children, famlies, pedestrians and bikers 8. Safe access of the library for children, families , pedestrians and bikers for 2 years This to me sounds like an unfair taking. This elite luxury complex gets what they want for their wealthy clients, and the public loses bigtime. It would be great to have a privately built parking garage added to the city's parking supply. But certainly not at these costs. Sincerely, Linda Semones 404 S Church Ave Bozeman
