Honorable Commission Members, Commissioner Pomeroy has served our city in many ways, including in her elected position on the commission. I wish her the best in recovering from her current health battle. After the city just went through an exhausting election where the city residents chose both themayor and a commission seat, why is Ms. Pomeroy’s vacant seat now being filled via a 1,000 word essay submission? When her health issues were announced back in July, why was herresignation not announced until October 1 and therefore not included on the ballot? A special election where Bozeman residents are allowed to choose the person to fill this vacant seatbetter serves the public than a less transparent process. If you do not allow the public to vote, then please carefully consider how the public voted in previous elections. Those who are “throwing their names in the hat” who did not receive asubstantial vote should not be appointed. For example, Jennifer Madgic received a substantially higher number of votes than Roger Blank and therefore appointing Mr. Blank toMs. Pomeroy’s seat would be going against the public’s vote. Please allow the public to see all the names and résumé’s being considered for this appointment so that we have an opportunityto voice our public comment to guide your selection. Thank you, Zehra Osman Bozeman Resident
