I am copying Kira to this email since we personally know each other and I was told she was a point of contract. As you likely aware and have of records, I have now sent multiple emails over the course of the past year in regards to the disturbing activity near my office for Guaranteed Rate on 11th Avenue. I have had to call the police department 3-4 times now and just called them again a couple weeks ago when a mentally unstable homeless man from the camp was doing all sorts of bizarre activities at my office window and then tried to run around and bust through my office doors. I was a woman working alone at almost 5pm and luckily my door was locked, but I called the police department to escort me to my car as I was shaking in fear literally as the man clearly had mental illness and didn’t have good intentions from his actions. Yet again as I have repeated multiple times, I CANNOT keep my business/office doors open to the public anyone when we have just 2 woman working alone in such an environment. I am getting increasingly nervous about walking out to my car at night time and have bear spray that I am now carrying. I thought after 30 days we were to be giving notices and moving these homeless camps? I just don’t understand why someone is not taking the danger of the this seriously? Are we going to wait until someone gets hurt? If my door had not been locked and this man got inside my office and had me backed again the wall.. what then? You can’t tell me there isn’t drug activity and seriously mental illness problems at that camp. Its not fair to ask your hard working Bozeman citizens to just deal with it and hope for the best as someone is going to get hurt one of these days. This is now the 3rd time at least when we have dealt with the mentally unstable trying to get into our office. Because I now have to keep my office doors locked we are missing customers dropping by and Fed- Ex deliveries etc. This is not fair to a business owner. We need to move these camps that are in close proximity to businesses and schools. My son (age 4) goes to Bozeman Montessori (Equestrian Lane) and I heard yesterday there was gun shots at one of the homeless camps and the police got called. Again… are we just going to wait until a child gets shot or killed until we do something? The camps over there are in close proximity to a school with young children! When does this end Bozeman? We need movement here and I am growing very tired of writing the same requests and begging for the City to listen to the dangers of this. Its not fun to work in fear at your office building and have to worry about locking your door and checking your back 24/7 when walking in my parking lot. I am begging for someone to listen here and do something. Thank you!
