To the Library Board of Trustees:
I am writing to oppose the proposed parking MOU on the grounds that our
wonderful library would lose very much and get very little in return.
As I understand the proposal, the library would lose a lot of green space and art
in areas that a lot of the public uses on a daily basis. These public areas would be
eliminated for a parking garage. The library is not guaranteed parking, and
library patrons can only access the (environmentally questionable) rooftop garden
if they are escorted by a member of the library staff. I fail to see why the
library would enter into this agreement.
The library has been beautifully renovated and is one of Bozeman's gems. The
nearby open space, with its proximity to Peet's Hill and the Galligator Trail, is a
favorite area of many (and many dogs). Please do not let the library and its
grounds be taken over by a parking garage that really only benefits the hotel.
