Dear Library Board of Trustees,
I was astounded and quite frankly shocked today when I learned of the details of this firm’s
proposal for the site adjacent to the Bozeman library. The effect this development will have
on one of Bozeman’s most cherished public spaces will be significant. The restrictions on the
development rights of the Library, apparent private takeover of public areas, the removal of
numerous trees, the disruption of the sculpture garden and the bizarre constraints on public
access to the garage rooftop garden reflects an arrogance and total lack of sensitivity by the
developer. To add insult to injury, the architectural renderings I have seen depict an
incredibly uninspiring structure, with the garage component particularly bleak.
I strongly request the Library’s Board of Trustees critically look at this proposal and consider
the long-term ramifications it will have on this beloved part of our community and on the
future of the Library itself.
