Nov 6, 2023Program Updates Upcoming Opportunities Funding to Mitigate Disasters: The U.S. EPA is sponsoring a free webinaron Federal Funding for Water and Wastewater Utilities in National Disasters. Fed FUNDS provides tailored information to water and wastewater utilities about applicable federal disaster funding programs from FEMA, USDA, EPA,HUD, SBA, and USBR. The Fed FUNDS web pages have new featuresincluding; search for the right funding; successful funding examples acrossthe nation; funding for tribes; and ways to combine funding from differentfederal agencies. A demonstration will be conducted on how to use FedFUNDS and provide an overview of the newly available funding resourcesfrom the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. These place-based investments will be focused on community-driven initiatives to be responsive to community and stakeholder input. Withmany emerging issues facing drinking water and societal changes in how we access and share information, communicating about drinking water and public health risks can be challenging. This presentation discusses practicaltools and resources used to help public water systems communicate aboutrisk with their customers, including the Drinking Water Risk CommunicationToolkit, and will include examples of how the toolkit has been used andfuture areas of expansion. The series is designed for state, tribal, andterritory personnel responsible for drinking water regulations, compliance,treatment technologies, and permitting. Water system operators, technicalassistance providers, local government personnel, and others may benefitfrom attending.
