Do not click links or open attachments unless you recognize the sender and know the content is safe. Please take this off tonight's consent agenda and give more thought on approving this ordinance. The proposed ordinance does not address how trash and sewage will be handled. Are the taxpayers expected to pay for this? It also does not address how City staff will identify who meets the guidelines for being able to camp or how it will be enforced. The public defecation and piles of trash are getting worse. I would also like to propose that their belongings stay within their camper or tent rather than piled up outside. I understand their predicament, but perhaps they could be more respectful neighbors. These folks do. It pay a cent on taxes and we as taxpayers continue to see out taxes increase to meet the needs of the community. The ordinance now is not being enforced as these trailers never move. Giving them 30 days will just give them an opportunity to pile up more trash in a given location. I would like to see permits be issued in a similar way that I.D.'s have to be issued for the homeless to vote or register their vehicles. HRDC might be able to help with that. Part of the permit process would be the camper declaring how they will dispose of sewage or trash - especially if their only transportation to and from the camp is a bike. A lot with facilities would certainly be ideal. Has anyone give consideration to using the vacant rest stop to contain the vehicles in an area? There's is a fair amount of parking there plus a building with bathrooms. Perhaps there could be a small fee to park and have access to bathrooms would help offset the cost to taxpayers and give them a bit of dignity as well. Thank you for listening and I hope that you will not just rubber stamp this ordinance this evening. I feel that in its current state it does not address the issue and a long term solution. -- Madeline RundellaCell: 908-642-5177
