The city of Bozeman is letting down its tax paying residents by allowing “urban camping” as a means for people to
live for free in the city at the rest of our expense. These camps make our communities less safe by creating
environments conducive to crime and unhealthy living. The trash and waste generated by these encampments is
often not taken care of properly polluting our neighborhoods. The city is not helping these folks living on the streets
as they are only enabling and encouraging that continued unhealthy behavior which will only make the problem
bigger and harder to correct over time. It’s time to clean up Bozeman before the problem is too big to fix. Even the
Forest Service doesn’t allow camping in any one spot for more than 14 days but Bozeman seems to allow “urban
camping” to be a permanent urban residence. Remember, responsible residents will be going to the voting booth
while “urban campers” are busy dumping waste in the gutter and in some cases likely selling drugs.
