I’ve owned a home in the B3 district for 26 years As a long-time resident of Bozeman, I decide to convert my 1st floor into a short-term rental 4 1/2 years ago, while continuing keeping the basement as a long-term rental after I had to move in with my elderly mother to take care of her. I followed all the rules, invested enormous amounts of money and sweat equity to renovate the house to make it safe and appealing to guests, and count on the income since caring for my mother doesn’t allow me time to operate my personal business full time. My other job as ED of a local arts non-profit doesn’t pay enough to support me. Banning STR’s not only creates extreme hardships for local residents, but does not seem to truly make a dent in our affordable housing crisis after listening to the report at the last commission meeting. I urge you to focus on managing the existing non-compliant rentals and see what the situation looks like after those rentals have been shut down or brought into compliance. I would not be opposed to increasing the fees for STR’s if it meant the city could then hire someone to track and manage residents with STR’s. Sincerely, Lisa McGrory 113 S Bozeman Sent from my iPhone
