To Bozeman City Commissioners:
You are pressed to consider the proposal to ban or restrict Short Term Rentals (STRs). I suggest answering this question should guide
your actions.
Will anyone be better off? No. Not renters, not owners, not the City.
Rental rates will not drop to become affordable to low-income renters.
Will anyone be worse off? Yes, STR owners.
What could make the City better off? Enforcing licensing STR’s would be safer, inspection fees would offset enforcement costs, owners
would pay bed taxes. The City should encourage the County to do likewise.
I respectfully suggest that you defer voting on the STR proposal until the zoning issue is settled, and get to work requiring all STRs to be
licensed.
