I am a Montana native and have been a resident in Bozeman for almost 35 years. My husband and I own a type 3
short term rental. We invested in this property to supplement our income for our family of four. I am the manager
and cleaner of this property which is why we are able to make ends meet at this time (considering recent
maintenance and repairs). We are not able to rent our condo as a realistic “affordable” long term rental because our
mortgage, HOA, and property taxes far exceed such an income. We would need to charge over $3,000.00/per month
for our two bedroom condo. Eliminating type 3 STRs is not the answer to generate affordable housing in Bozeman.
It only penalizes those who have invested their lives to Bozeman.
