Do not click links or open attachments unless you recognize the sender and know the content is safe. Dear City Commissioners, We own a STR and are also local permanent residents. We have gone through the process to pay the money, fill out the forms and have this inspections honoring the legal process to have a "legally permitted STR" in Bozeman. Whatever you decide, at a minimum, you should grandfather these permitted STR's into whatever new policy you pass. Before you start banning all STR's, you should at least figure out enforcement for all the non-legal ones already operating in the community. To not do so, is ridiculous to say the least. Furthermore, if we have our legally permitted STR banned, we would not rent the house out, but instead it would stay empty much of the year as a place our family and friends could use, including our elders, that often come visit and stay in this house. If we needed the money we would also instead just sell it as we are not interested in a long-term rental situation at this property so ours is not a possibility for your interest in more affordable rental housing. This seems like a very short-sighted solution to us choosing to ban any or even some of the STR's, as it would not affect the affordable housing supply at all. It would also be very hypocritical if you all on the commission rent Airbnb's or similar when you travel to other communities. That would be very unfortunate if this was discovered as well. We hope you make the right choice and look at other options moving forward. Best, Gar Duke 406.600.6442 410 North Church Avenue, Bozeman
