As a single mother with a disabled child nearing adulthood, our financial budget has and continues to be tight. My
son has not ever been able to attend school anywhere near full time, so I have not been able to work outside of our
home. I I intentionally bought a home in R3 area with the STR rules in mind, knowing I would need to rent it out at
least part of each year to increase unearned income. Living in R3 was not my dream, just a compromise as I needed
to ensure long term ability to rent out my home for necessary income. Income from the STR has allowed me to
begin saving a little for retirement that is quickly approaching and also save for my son's future needs, as he is not
able to work. The income I make from having a STR allows for me to afford upkeep (recent exterior painting) and
property taxes. Without the additional income from renting my home out 50% of the year, I will not be able to
afford increased property taxes nor the necessary maintenance my home requires.
