Dear Commissioners,
I write to ask you to vote no on banning current compliant short term rentals. My wife and I own a short term
rental. Our short term rental helps us make ends meet, and pay our mortgage. STRs are a business, and this ban
would essentially be taking away people’s businesses. Many of us including myself are not real estate moguls. We
are small business owners who have worked hard to build and run a successful STR. We give visitors to Bozeman
an enjoyable and unique place to stay while they enjoy this amazing city and spend money at local businesses. We
also provide jobs to many who work in landscaping, construction trades, cleaning, and property management. Right
now we are the easy targets for a society who is hurting from the economic crunch in our country. Please consider
that if you pass this ordinance as is, you won’t be hurting the ultra wealthy, but the mom and pop small business
owner.
I am supportive of banning future Type 3 STRs and or placing a moratorium on future Type 3 and 2, because this
doesn’t shut down someone’s existing business. It wouldn't tear down a business that someone has invested in, built
up, worked hard to keep running, and planned on to help them retire one day.
Thank you for your time.
Kind Regards,
David Kulbacki
