I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to express my deep concern about the recentproposal to ban Airbnb and other short-term rentals in our city. While I understand the need to
address certain concerns related to short-term rentals, I believe that an outright ban is a drasticand unnecessary solution. I implore you to reconsider and explore alternative approaches that
strike a balance between regulation and individual property rights.
Airbnb has become an integral part of our city's tourism and hospitality industry, offeringnumerous benefits that should not be overlooked. Here are a few compelling reasons why
banning Airbnb is not the right path forward:
Economic Growth: Airbnb hosts contribute significantly to the local economy by renting theirproperties. This extra income helps homeowners and renters alike, supporting a thriving small-
scale entrepreneurial community in our city.
Tourism Boost: Airbnb provides tourists with a wide range of affordable and uniqueaccommodation options, attracting more visitors to our city. This influx of tourists drives
additional revenue to local businesses, from restaurants and shops to museums andentertainment venues.
Flexibility and Choice: Many travelers prefer the flexibility and homely atmosphere that
Airbnb properties provide. Banning Airbnb would limit the choices available to tourists, potentially deterring them from visiting our city.
Property Rights: Property owners should have the freedom to decide how to use their
properties, within reasonable limits. A blanket ban on Airbnb infringes on these propertyrights and sets a dangerous precedent.
