Dear Bozeman Zoning:
My house is at 624 North Black Avenue, on the corner of Black and East Cottonwood. We
bought the house in late 2018 and renovated it. This is a cozy legacy Bozeman neighborhoodwith mostly single family homes; many have been renovated and most are well maintained.
It would destroy this neighborhood and our homes if the zoning is changed to permit density
like 4-story buildings with 10s to 100s of units. The neighborhood immediately north ofMendenhall is now being destroyed with all of the apartment and condo buildings and hotels
that have been built the past 10 years. It's too much traffic. It's too much noise. It's too manypeople who are transient. There is zero character to those large buildings.
We should want a vibrant neighborhood filled with single family homes in this part of town,
close to Main street, close to the Fairgrounds, and many homes with families who can walkand bike their kids to one of the many nearby schools.
There is plenty of land between Bozeman and 4 Corners and Bozeman and Belgrade to build
high density apartment and condo buildings with views of the Bridgers, the Gallatin Rangeand the Tobacco Roots. And doing it out there where there are 1000s of acres of undeveloped
land means developers aren't destroying our few remaining older, charming neighborhoods. Developers just want to be able to build and don't care at all the impact their noise, pollution,
traffic, and high volume of people have on other people and families who are living in theirhouse down the street from their concrete towers.
Please have common sense prevail and don't rezone the neighborhoods south of Peach, north
of the fairgrounds, west of Rouse and East of 7th to permit Developers to build more concretetowers that will only destroy this vibrant Bozeman neighborhood.
regards,
Kelby Barton
