What I was trying to say, inside that room from public comments to community development board is the continuity of development in bozeman over the course 30+ years is reflected in Bozeman UDC, which I think is a good working document, to thank the folks at the meeting who wrote and continue to write the UDC. To point how we need to train and retain young folk at COB, so the work of the UDC will not be lost and can continue in both planning and building departments. How with the short staff, lack of knowledge, builds have slipped through that do not add value to our community and before the changes happen to UDC regarding greater density, that trained staff are in place to efficiently facilitate development process and hopefully not allow crap to be built. Instead of taking prime real estate, behind universal athletics and build cookie cutter builds that have already been built, that development is held to a higher standard. Maybe the only way that can be achieved is a city wide TIF, allowing the final say on what is built with licensed building professionals, a collect of architects, planners, builders and developers. That the better way, more affordable way, i.e not spending millions and creating unnecessary property management jobs that will require funding going forward., is to address affordable housing by requiring a certain % of new apartment builds be affordable, based on some metric and application process.
