Hi Lotus,
Yes lighng is not required if they do not want to provide site lighng, a cut sheet showing intensity in footcandles
would work, but please make sure to highlight or circle all applicable informaon for the fixture selected on the
cut sheet since there are oen mulple opons per light. Typically it’s the civil engineer/lighng engineer that
provides those photometric plans.
Thank you,

Hello Danielle,
We were just informed by our landscape architect that they do not have the tools for creating the photometric plan you
mention in your comment (#22). I have relied on my landscape architects for site lighting plans in the past, so I went
back and reviewed BMC Section 38.570 to see what we can do. It looks to me like do not actually need to install any
lighting per section Sec. 38.570.020:
A.With the exception of street lighting, lighting is not required. If installed, all lighting must comply with the
requirements of this section.
Because of the nature of the daycare and the fact that operating hours will be between 8am-5pm, we are thinking of
removing the bollard lighting from the path per the above section stating that lighting is not required. We will install an
exterior light at the new lower level entry. If we provide cut sheet info for that light that shows compliance with the 5.0
min average footcandles for building entrances, will that be sufficient?
Thanks for your help and have a good weekend.
