I am writing to you today to urge you to vote No to Ordinance 2149.
There is no proof that restricting STR will create affordable housing. Increasing the supply of
affordable housing can be done without restricting the rights of property owners. Housingsubsidies, promoting mixed-income developments, increasing FAR and providing tax
incentives are just a few methods that can be implemented to increase the housing stock inBozeman.
Restricting STR favors corporations and hotels over Montanians who are utilizing their asset
to create additional income.Restricting STR will make it prohibitively expensive for families to come and visit if forced to
stay in hotels. Restricting STRs will impact the tourist industry.
The City is in the process of rezoning. Why introduce another variable when you already donot know the impact of that?
In closing please vote NO on Ordinance 2149.
Thank you,
Justin
