City Commissioners, City Manager, and City Attorney
City of Bozeman
121 N. Rouse Ave
Bozeman, MT 59715
At its regularly scheduled meeting The Bozeman District of the Gallatin Valley Tourism Business Improvement District
(TBID)discussed the current state of Urban Camping and Homelessness in the City Limits of Bozeman.
Bozeman TBID has supported the efforts in addressing the City of Bozeman's lack of having a warming shelter that would
be open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, and committed $1,000,000.00(one-million dollars)towards the
matching funds needed by the County towards the building of the Homeward Point, which is a 24/7/365 warming
shelter.
The board voted the following position:
The City of Bozeman currently has the laws in place to address the current parking and camping related issues and
opposes any new ordinance to be created to address Public Safety and Public Health Issues.
Enforcement of our current laws is aimed at all the illegal activity in our community such as:
• drug use in public
• public intoxication
• public urination
• theft of electricity and water from private businesses
• littering
• disorderly conduct
• trespassing on private property
• etc. There is more that goes on than what is listed.
The Board has also recommended that if the City Commission, City Manager and City Attorney refuse to enforce the
current laws that address the public health and safety issues of Bozeman, the members of the Commission, the City
Manager and City Attorney should step down from their positions for failing to protect the Public Health and Public
Safety of Bozeman.
