Dear Council Members,
We strongly oppose the proposed Unified Development Code. This proposed re-zoning of our
in-town neighborhoods would drastically change the character our neighborhoods - which
were protected from this type of development when we bought our home in 2021 - and
would NOT create more affordable housing!
As we can see around the areas of town where more stories and larger development has been
allowed, what happens is that massive expensive condos go in that do nothing for affordable
house, or for maintaining the character of the neighborhood. The UDC code would inevitably
cause neighborhood housing to be torn down when sold and in place would be more
expensive condos that overshadow their neighbors' homes and dramatically increase traffic to
formerly quiet areas that were protected from these developments when we - and our
neighbors - bought our homes.
Please vote NO on the UDC code and work to come up with better planning for affordable
housing.
Sincerely,
Ralph Wiegmann and Suzanne Truman
